Ragtoolina (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the Ragtoolina website at ragtoolina.com and the Ragtoolina desktop application for macOS (collectively, the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Service.

2.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and password (stored as a salted hash). If you sign up through our waitlist, we also store the source of your sign-up and any notes you provide.

2.2 Usage Data

We collect information about how you interact with the Service, including: embedding usage counts, the number and size of indexed projects, vector counts, session metadata (device name, IP address, user agent), and timestamps of activity.

2.3 Codebase Data

When you use Ragtoolina’s indexing features, we process files from your codebase to generate semantic embeddings. The embeddings are stored in our cloud infrastructure. We do not store your raw source code on our servers — only the vector representations and file metadata (path, size, hash) are retained.

2.4 Payment Information

Payment processing is handled by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number or full payment details. We retain your Stripe customer ID and subscription status for billing purposes.

2.5 Cookies and Local Storage

We use cookies to maintain your authentication session and local storage to remember your preferences (such as cookie consent). We do not use third-party tracking cookies.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide, maintain, and improve the Service
  • To authenticate your identity and manage your account and subscription
  • To generate semantic embeddings from your codebase for search functionality
  • To process payments and manage billing through Stripe
  • To send transactional emails (verification, password reset, waitlist approval)
  • To monitor usage and enforce plan limits
  • To detect, prevent, and address technical issues or abuse

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure. We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest. Authentication tokens are stored as HTTP-only cookies with secure flags. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt with appropriate salt rounds.

While we implement commercially reasonable security measures, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Stripe — for payment processing. Stripe’s privacy policy is available at stripe.com/privacy.
  • Cloud hosting providers — for infrastructure and vector database storage.

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We do not share your codebase data with any third party.

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data and indexed codebase data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes (such as billing records).
